Wild Daffodil

We had few warm nights and it did wonders. Daffodils are starting to bloom and it is such a delight to walk outside.

Bought this daffodil (Narcissus pseudonarcissus) from Ikea more than a month ago but finally it decided to open its flowers.

Like the color it has. Such a bright colored variety.

Violet

There are so many different color options for Violets (Viola) but I think that I now have the ones selected for this summer.

I have been going to different shops and finding out the options for this season.

Will have most of them in pots in the summer cottage, now that the isolation of the capital area is over and it seems that we are able to travel again.

Still more than a week to go before I will have a long weekend to spend over there. Simply cannot wait time to pass.

Lily

Bought one yellow for the Easter to start the season early.

Still few more months to go before the lilies (Lilium) start to bloom up here in the north.

When it has bloomed I will take it to the summer cottage and replant it. Not quite sure though that this variety can take the winter weather but will soon find out.

I bought few of them last year and planted. Few weeks from now I should see if they made it through the winter.

Begonia

Begonia

I have been trying to find a perfect Begonia (Begonia) for several days now. Today I accidentally noticed this pink one.

Last year I had a striking red and yellow colored which made me want to have one this year as well.

Begonia tolerates cold, heat and wind well which makes it perfect for my balcony. Now I can just sit and watch this beauty to bloom all summer long.

Mount Hood

Mount Hood

Yet another daffodil (Narcissus ‘Mount Hood’) started to bloom.

This variety is so similar to Snowboard that I have difficulties to tell them apart and most probably when I plant them to the summer cottage I do not know which one is which.

It does not really matter to me anyway. The main thing is that I can enjoy them blooming.

I guess I need to buy few more now than I have time and it seems to me that this year the selection of different varieties is wider than I have ever seen .

Pansy

Pansy

They have promised few days of warm weather just before the Eastern. We should go above 10 degrees Celsius which is warm up here in the north for this time of the year.

Pansies (viola) arrived and bought one for my balcony. I would love to have more but during the summer it simply gets to hot to grow them.

Now waiting for the other flower varieties to arrive hoping for new colors and shapes.

Persian Buttercup

Persian Buttercup

I have to admit that this is the first Persian Buttercup (Ranunculus asiaticus) that I have ever had.

Do not know why but for some reason I have never tried to grow one. It is always nice to have something new and see how it grows.

The shape of the bloom is gorgeous and there are enormous amount of different colors available. Let’s see how will it do on the balcony.

Peach Party

Peach Party

Took a long walk with my friends to day and visited several flower shops when walking by. Not much more you can do since we have the lockdown. Sincerely hope that we are able to save as many lives as possible. We can worry about the economy later.

Not exactly how I planned to spend my birthday but cannot complain. The weather is beautiful and company good.

In one of the shops noticed this dianthus (Dianthus caryophyllusPeach Party’) and fell in love. Now it is in the balcony which is getting very crowded.

Snowboard

Snowboard

Daffodil Snowboard (Narcissussnowboard’) is starting to bloom.

It seems to be a very stern and steady variety. One I bought from a flower shop two weeks ago.

The color of the flowers is nice white and it will find its way to the summer cottage where I will replant it for the next spring.

Still have few daffodils that have not yet opened their flowers and I am waiting impatiently. Few weeks to go before the ones in the summer cottage are ready to start the season.

Strike

Strike

I have been trying to find different varieties of daffodils to my balcony.

Daffodil (Narcissus ‘strike’) was a new acquaintance to me and I ended up buying it.

Not quite sure though if it is going to make it up here in the north. Could not find the hardiness rating for it.

Well, anyway I am going to enjoy its blooms while I can and next spring I will know how well does it cope with the coldness.
