Endless flocks of wild geese are flying over the summer cottage on their way to north for nesting.
The geese have taken an advantage of the beautiful and warm weather. So have the daffodils which are now nearly all flowering.
Accent (Narcissus ‘Accent’) started to bloom in my parents palace on the other side of the lake. I have planted it there few years ago.
The birdhouses are now getting occupied by the summer residents. Only few of them are available anymore for the new comers.
Eurasian Great Tits (Parus major) and Eurasian Blue Tits (Cyanistes caeruleus) have spent the winter up here in the north and are the ones that can choose the best houses.
The European Pied Flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca) just arrived but managed to get its usual home for the summer.
The warm days have gotten the Ice Follies (Narcissus ‘Ice Follies’) to open up their flowers and bloom by the lake.
Usually I travel some place warm during this time of the year but the virus has changed my plans. Luckily the autumn has been exceptionally warm up here in the north.
Panicle hydrangeas (Hydrangea paniculata) have bloomed but I managed to take few pictures when visiting the summer cottage nearly two months ago.
Also bought a new variety for my dad in the spring with bigger blooms than the ones we currently have.
Up here in the north days are getting shorter and cooler. Luckily the weather has been nice — not too much rain and some sunshine.
The Fall Phloxes (Phlox paniculata) are blooming. The white ones always start followed by the other colors.
Next year I will try to find more varieties to have more colors.
It has been awhile since I have had any Cornflowers (Centaurea cyanus) growing.
It is a native plant for the region and I remember it from the childhood.
Nowadays you can have it in several different colors but the blue one is the original color.
Planted some Siberian Poppy seeds (Papaver bracteatum) last year and now they are blooming nicely.
Have been having them for the past ten years.
The blooms are colored white, yellow, or orange.
I sowed the Artic Fires (Dianthus deltoides ‘Arctic Fire’) last year and they are finally blooming.
It will be interesting to see weather they make it through the winter because the sports I moved them to is a bit challenging when it comes to overwintering.
For the safety’s sake I sowed some more for the coming spring. Just to be on the safe side.
The Baby Blue Eyes (Nemophila menziesii) started blooming a bit later this year because of the cold spring.
Bees and butterflies love the flowers and during a sunny day there is a constant buzzing going on.
One of the most reliable annuals I grow and starts blooming early, usually around the midsummer up here in the north.
Cosmos (Cosmos bipinnatus) is blooming. The spring was cool and the flowers opened a bit later this year.
Each autumn I faithfully collect the seeds for the next year.
Not quite sure about the variety. It has been grown by us for more than 20 years. Anyway its suitable for our climate. Grows quickly during the long summer days and blooms early.
