It is Sunny Boy’s time to bloom. The blooms are a bit smaller than I expected but that is due to the long dry season we are having.
Thunder storms are now cooling the air and giving us incredible shows. Also bringing the much needed rains.
Autumn is now close and soon we will miss these warm and sunny days.
Windsor is the last of the garden phloxes to bloom but goes well with the white ones.
Tried to find new colors from the garden shop I visited but the hot July has made all the saplings dry and shaggy. I guess I buy more in the spring.
This July was the hottest one ever recorded and I can see it from my plants. Not that pretty sight . Too much is too much.
Well I am enjoying the warmth. Laying in a hammock and knowing that the autumn is here soon.
The late lilies are starting to bloom.
The Red Flavour has done well up here in the north and bloomed faithfully over the years.
This year I am experimenting a new color and hopefully it will do as well as the red.
It has taken years but now I have lilies in each and every flowerbed that can survive the harsh coldness.
We are already enjoying the garden phloxes up here in the north.
My grandma always had garden phloxes blooming in her garden. Then we lost them for decades but luckily got some from a neighbor.
White ones are doing well and introduced a new color last year but it seems to be a late bloomer and for her to display the flowers we need to wait a bit longer.
Cavoli started to bloom and seems to have long lasting blooms which always makes me happy.
I usually do not have lilies with short stems but this year I made an exception. Bought three varieties to the front of one of the flowerbeds.
Let’s see how these cope with the winter and low temperatures.
White form of yarrow is native to this region. To have some variation I started to buy other colors as well.
My trial is now bearing fruits and other colors are starting to appear.
Yarrow is such an appreciative plant it does not require much and grows nearly everywhere. Going to buy some more seeds and continue the trial.
The first dahlia started to bloom. We are early this summer. Usually dahlias start around mid August.
Not quite sure what will I have blooming later in the autumn. Seems that the long period of high temperatures has made everything to be unbelievably early.
Well at least I have plenty of watering to do.
Pink Sunrays are blooming. An annual native to Australia. Not sure if I am convinced though.
The stems are not that strong and the flowers are smaller than expected.
This was a nice experiment but do not think that I will grow them again.
I have been swimming and swimming in the lake. The heat wave just continues and causes all the flowers to bloom at the same time.
Velouette is a cosmos variety that I have not tried before. The colors have impressed me.
Now back to swimming before the thunderstorms hit us and make being in the water impossible.
