The Elkes (Geranium sanguineum ‘Elke’) are doing fine. They made it through the winter and have been blooming the whole summer.
Bought few more to the new flowerbed I have been building to have some reliable bloomers in it.
Their flowers are a bit delicate when it comes to rain and wind but new ones emerge often so it is not a big problem.
The Red Flavours (Lilium lancifolium ‘Red Flavour‘) are blooming beautifully.
The dryness has made the red in them even darker this year.
They are very hardy and do not mind the cold winters or dry summers.
I just love the orange color Marigolds (Calendula officinalis ‘Ball’s orange) have. It is so bright and striking.
It always surprises me how much water they need to grow well. The summer here has been dry and some of my Marigolds are still dwarfs and not blooming.
Well I guess I just enjoy the ones that made it.
It is already the time for the garden phloxes to start blooming.
This old white variety is always doing well and has been cultivated in the area for decades and decades.
It blooms earlier than the new varieties I have bought and has adapted well to the harsh winters we have.
I so like the Mango Tango (Dasiphora fruticosa). It is has just the color and size I want to my flowerbed.
Planted two last year to the raised flowerbeds but those are not doing that well.
Now I bought few more and try a different spot. Let’s see how these will look after the winter.
Mallows are doing well this year. My mom has several blooming beautifully.
The mallow is quite easy to grow from seed and plants tend to grow several decades if they like the planting spot.
We only have the pink form of the flower but I think I will buy the white variety next year.
Topmix Red seems to be a early bloomer which is perfect for our short summers.
The variety is quite short but blooms are beautiful.
The shade of red is also darker than I expected.
After a cool start of July we are finally going to have a heatwave up here in the north. Luckily I have a week of from the office and able t enjoy it in the summer cottage.
The corn marigolds (Glepionis segetum) are at their best and I really like the yellow cloud they have formed.
Maybe next year I will plant them to a bigger area to allow them to give even better show.
The perfect time to harvest dill. No yellow leafs yet.
I tried a new variety called Mammoth this year and it seems to be doing quite well. Dill is a bit un predictable to grow but have managed to do well several years in a row now.
I usually collect the harvest at this time of the year and freeze it to be used during the winter.
