Annabelle

Time to enjoy something from the garden. Potatoes are easy to grow and harvest.

When it comes to taste Annabelle (Solanum tuberosum ‘Annabelle’) is one of my favorites.

Just had few potatoes in the fridge that were there too long in the spring and decided to plant them to the garden. Now enjoying a fine meal.

Vales Emerald

Autumn is here and it is time for harvesting.

The potatoes did exceptionally well this year. Cannot even remember when was the previous year like this.

The past few years I have been growing Vales Emerald (Solanum tuberosum ‘Vales Emerald’) just to see how would it do up here in the north.

It grows well and the potatoes are of good size and beautiful. Unfortunately the crop is only one third what it should be.

In other words I will try something different next year and grow a new variety.

Vales Emerald1

A new variety I tried for the fist time this year. Everything started slowly. My original idea was to have new potatoes after the mid summer and now it is mid-August.

Planted the potatoes already late April but nothing happened for weeks. Spring was simply too cold.

The end result was good though. Beautiful white potatoes and the size of them is just right.

I might have found a new variety for me. Just need to see how well they will do in the storage and of course I need to taste them first. Cannot wait, must hurry to the kitchen.
