Snowball

Today is the longest day of the year up here in the north. The night is only a bit longer than four hours. In other words lots of light available for the plants.

The snowball bush (Viburnum opulus) is at its best and full of flowers.

The Snowball is a very decorative shrub blooming with huge green flowers which turn gradually to brilliant white as the season progresses.

Snowball

The snowball bush (Viburnum opulus) is blooming .

In the beginning the blooms are light green and then turn to white.

Originally we only had one bush but I managed to create two more by bending a branch to the ground and letting it grow roots. Then moving the new bush to another location.

Snowballs are here again! The bush seems to be full of white flowers.

Hope that the branches are able to take the extra weight brought in by the racemes. They have promised heavy summer rains and it might be too much to bear.

I have been so happy this one bush that I decided to try to have few more. Trying to have new saplings by bending the branches to the soil and waiting them to grow roots.

Snowball1

About ten years ago I bought my father a snowball tree. One of the most successful purchases I have made.

Ever since the tree has produced beautiful snowballs each year. Growing larger and larger each summer and producing hundreds and hundreds of white flowers.

Now I am considering to buy another since the tree has survived the winters and it simply looks stunning when blooming.
