Autumn is here. The trees are loosing their leaves. A constant flow of bird flocks flying south accompanied by a steady wind from the north. During the nights temperatures are below the freezing point. Some of the plants are still coping. The ornamental brassicas are at their best bringing color to the garden. Not a…

Autumn is here and my stonecrop flowers are turning red and birches are starting to drop their leaves. Temperature is slowly dropping and it rains more often. Days are getting shorter and we are reaching the point where the day is as long as the night. Stonecrop is probably one of the easiest plant to…

It has been awhile since I have written. Been traveling a bit and enjoying life. Autumn is here though the days are still surprisingly warm and the water in the lake is still 20 degrees Celsius. Cannot remember a summer like this. I was planning to have pictures about late blooming lilies, beautiful lobelias, tall…

Cooler weather finally arrived with rains. Bringing strong winds that give hard times to the blooming Atoms. The winds have been so hard that most of my dahlias are now gone. This has not been a very good year for gardening but at least it has been warm and sunny.

We are already enjoying the garden phloxes up here in the north. My grandma always had garden phloxes blooming in her garden. Then we lost them for decades but luckily got some from a neighbor. White ones are doing well and introduced a new color last year but it seems to be a late bloomer…

Cavoli started to bloom and seems to have long lasting blooms which always makes me happy. I usually do not have lilies with short stems but this year I made an exception. Bought three varieties to the front of one of the flowerbeds. Let’s see how these cope with the winter and low temperatures.

White form of yarrow is native to this region. To have some variation I started to buy other colors as well. My trial is now bearing fruits and other colors are starting to appear. Yarrow is such an appreciative plant it does not require much and grows nearly everywhere. Going to buy some more seeds…
